Lokalap - Gastro

The Lokalap project contained 10+ similar websites that gather and display places in Hungary, like the main website, Gastro.hu shows hungarian restaurants.

After getting familiar with the code of these websites, I started to develop a custom framework that can be used to easily create new Lokalap websites and write a documentation for it. While I was creating this framework, I had to refactor both the frontend and backend code, because it used outdated technologies and the code was unorganised and unscalable. On the backend side, among other things, I had to optimize the database tables by using indexes and remove unnecessary PHP code.

After 1.5 year I became the lead developer on this project, and programmed a place data collector algorithm that uses several APIs to collected 6 million gastro places' data around the world. Using this we were able to gather 6 million restaurants around the world. Also I helped sending out newsletters in Sendinblue.

Later I worked on refactoring the frontend side of the Lokalap websites. Also I needed to monitor site analytics using Google Analytics and Google Search Console, and develop the website to get high SEO scores.
